Phuket in the wet
Wet commute in south Phuket.

Ahh, August in Phuket. We’re in the midst of our rainy season here and this week has been wet wet wet! Crappy for tourists if they have only a few days on the island, but for me as a year-round resident I love the rainy time of year. Our yard is incredibly lush and green, the roads become less clogged with fewer tourists, and the stormy skies often put on an amazing show.

Damp little rain gnomes.

I wrote a bit about what to do in Phuket when it rains over at Travelfish. Didn’t mention listening to the pitter-patter of raindrops while drinking heavily in a dimly-lit bar, though that’s an option too. What to do when it rains in Phuket

UPDATE, 29 August: Since posting this it’s been sunny and beautiful every single day. Really! I’d post some sunny day photos to prove it but fear that it will prompt the skies to blacken again.

I operate Phuket's biggest and most challenging Football Golf Course at Phuket Games Zone, and I love the rain!! It's great for the grass, but not good for the customers!! This September started very wet, but the past few weeks has been surprisingly dry. Looking forward to some more rain….

We arrived in Phuket knowing it was the rainy season but luckily only had one day of rain. We went the discount shopping place just outside of Patong, can't recall the name. Great day shopping and sheltering from the storm.
Love Phuket, we stayed at the Centara Grand Beach Resort.
